Trying to do the whole no paci thing is pretty rough on a kid who’s had one in his mouth for the last 2 years. At first I got rid of one paci and kept a few others just in case. That was pointless. Then I decided to just get rid of them all. We cut the tips of them and showed him they were broken and had him throw them in the trash. Only one problem. He had been learning his colors with his orange, green, and blue pacifiers. We got rid of 5 blue and green pacis. And he knows there’s an orange one out there somewhere. So he begs for it every night! (It’s probably in the bottom of one of my purses somewhere. Haven’t found it yet.) It’s tough. On him and on us. He won’t take naps during the day and when it’s bed time we’ll put him in his room and he’ll play or cry for an hour or 2. Usually 2. But then a couple nights ago, when he would just lie on the floor next to his door and cry, I decided to try something. I put his blanket, pillow, and dog next to the door. And his flashlight that he just loves to fall asleep with. And he was asleep within 3 minutes! So, that’s what we’ve been doing. And now, a few days later, at nap time, he’s asleep on the floor next to his door.

Losing the Pacifier
Little trip to the temple
The other day I decided to head out to the temple bookstore while I had the kids all packed in the car. We went there straight from the gym (hence my no makeup, nasty hair look). We finished at the bookstore around 11:45 and I happened to have juice and snacks and a bottle in my bag so we went across the street to the temple and ate “lunch” on the picnic tables they have. I enjoyed showing KB the temple and teaching him how to say it and Angel Moroni on top! I felt kinda weird going up to walk around the temple in street clothes, but then I remembered this time that my dad went inside in running clothes and had to change in there before going in. So then I didn’t feel so bad. KB liked walking around the temple. We practiced saying “Angel Moroni” a lot and I think it ended up sounding like “Ain shull Wroni”. Close enough, right?
LG must have liked being at the temple too! (And she was just fed.)
Yeah, we’re there again.
KB’s very favorite place to go! Every once in a while he can sound just cute enough when we drive past the Krispy Kreme sign and he says, “Uh huh. Yep. Uh huh. Doughnuts! Yeah!” And I’ll give in and spend a dollar on one doughnut. Then they give us 2.
LG’s got a little while til she can get the chance to appreciate a good doughnut, but we bring her along for now anyways!
